Q. 사진을 시작하게 된 계기
A. 영화고등학교를 다니며 10대 때 영화 공부를 했었다. 하지만 촬영 중 크고 작은 갈등과 개인적인 감정 소모가 힘들게 느껴져, 영화를 포기하였다. 당시 영화를 그만두며 팀 활동이 나랑 맞지 않는다는 것을 알게 되었다. 고등학교 1학년의 나는 영화과 소속에 세부 전공은 촬영을 희망했었다. 촬영 세부 전공을 살리며, 팀 활동에 엮이지 않는 방법을 고민하던 중 사진을 처음으로 시작하게 되었다.
Q. 폴라로이드 작업을 하는 이유
A. 촬영 과정 자체가 굉장히 흥미롭다. 나는 사진가로서 외부가 아닌 내부에서 모든 만족을 느끼는 것이 가장 이상적이라 생각한다. 그리고 폴라로이드의 과정이 나에게 충분한 만족감을 전해준다. +폴라로이드와 관련해서 아직 많은 실험을 해보는 단계이다.
Q. 'OnlyMakeMine'이 무엇인가
A. OnlyMakeMine은 2029년에 시작될, 국내 사진 플랫폼이다. 큰 목표는 사진 시장의 볼륨을 키우는 것에 있다. 스마트폰으로 촬영하는 일상적인 사진과 그 시장을 말하는 것은 아니다. 작업이라 여기는 사진과 그 문화/시장을 키우는 것에 집중한다.

Q. What led you to start photography?
A. I studied filmmaking during my high school years, but the repetitive interpersonal conflicts and emotional drain during film productions proved challenging. This experience made me realize that working in large team environments wasn't the right fit for me. As a film student aspiring to specialize in cinematography, I began searching for a path where I could retain my passion for camera work while working independently. That search naturally led me to photography.
Q. Why do you work with instant (Polaroid) film?
A. I find the process of instant photography deeply captivating. I believe the ideal state for a photographer is to derive fulfillment internally rather than relying on external validation, and the tactile process of Polaroid photography provides that intrinsic satisfaction. + I am currently in an active phase of experimenting with various techniques within the medium.
Q. What is 'OnlyMakeMine'?
A. OnlyMakeMine is a domestic photography platform set to launch in 2029. Its primary mission is to expand the footprint and appreciation of fine art photography in Korea—focusing specifically on photography as an artistic discipline and cultural movement, rather than casual smartphone snapshots.
